Cutch Company was established during the pandemic in June 2020 when person to person contact had not been allowed for three months; families, friends and lovers were separated and the simple, heartening act of a consoling hug to make everything alright disappeared overnight.
Cutch is named after the Welsh word ‘cwtch’, which means a special hug or an embrace, and as we are part Welsh we felt this was a name that really meant something to us and represented what we wanted to provide for our customers.
As a two-woman team, we do everything in the business ourselves including making, packaging, marketing and attending events.
Our Workshop
We built the workshop, the business plan, and the brand with our own hands and from our own experiences. It’s a great place to curate our fragrances and hand-make all of our products. Our previous careers in operations, marketing, education and finance have served us well, although the real pleasure has been in the creation of custom blend scented candles and home fragrance products from scratch. We hand-pour all of our candles in small batches making sure the quality and design bar is set where we want it to be to deliver the best that we can for our customers.
Essential Oils and Unique Fragrances
During the lockdown we spent time working with essential oils and fragrances to create candles and home fragrance products that wrap around the senses and take you somewhere else, somewhere familiar that you want to be.
We continue to search for more nuanced combinations that will stimulate memory and emotion, as well as provide some familiar favourites. It’s how the scent makes you feel that matters, and adding in new elements that create a sense of wellbeing while the candle burns is always our ambition.
We use essential oils and natural fragrances to create a beautiful scent in your home some of which can bring aromatherapy benefits and enhance your mood and general feeling of well-being.
Sustainable Soy Wax and Cotton Wicks
We use only natural plant based soy wax for our candles and melts as a safer alternative to petroleum-based paraffin to give a cleaner burn, free from harmful toxins. Our soy wax comes from renewable sources and is eco-friendly as part of our sustainability agenda. All of our candles are handmade using cotton wicks and packaged in FSC boxes and recyclable materials.
